What Is Domain

Well, what it is and what it DOMAIN. Maybe there will be other terms that accompany it, such as Hosting, Name Servers, Cpanel, DNS, MX Entry, Cron Job, etc. We will discussed slowly while you practice.

DOMAIN is our website address. Domains are used to facilitate visitors to remember your website address. Therefore, the need to have a domain name that is easy to remember. Domain consists of 2 parts.
  1. The domain name
  2. Extension
Let's take an example: PANDUAJI.COM
  • PANDUAJI is a domain name
  • COM is the extension.
Naming a domain name is only allowed to use letters, numbers and a hyphen. The use of capital letters and lowercase letters are ignored. Meaning:
PANDUAJI.com and Panduaji.Com or pANDdu.cOm will still go to panduaji.com all pages.
And a domain name can only be owned by one person alone. If a domain is already owned by someone else, it must wait until the domain expired and was not extended by the owner. It usually takes 2 months

Extension itself there are many divided into 3 parts:
  • TOP LEVEL DOMAIN generic (gTLD)
  • USA Top Level Domain
  • Country Code Top Level Domain (ccTLD)

Usually that is widely used by the online business is: COM, NET, ORG, INFO

SUBDOMAIN
A subdomain is a domain under a domain. But he stands alone. We can liken this subdomain as provinces within a country. Provinces in the country but he is as independent and separate.

Subdomain Example: JASA.PANDUAJI.NET
  • JASA is a subdomain
  • PANDUAJI is the domain
  • NET is the extension
